Château de la Maltroye

This historic property, in the Cournut family since 1940, includes an 18th century glazed-tile roof chateau, complete with superb 15th century cellars.  Former aeronautical engineer, Jean-Pierre Cournut, beautifully revitalized the vineyards and now produces both white and red wines from his 13 hectares in the appellation Chassagne-Montrachet.  Important for concentration and complexity, Jean-Pierre's vines have an average age of 42 years.

Like Cournut himself, his wines seem full of nervous energy and fearlessly willing to go their own distinctive ways
